Baseball is over

My season ended and we never won a single game but thats okay because we're all happy. and thats good. Our last game was right before our closing cermonys and we only lost by one, the score was 12-11!!! We rocked!! We got our pins and then they announced all stars and their new fall ball league and I'm gonna be on it!!! I can't wait because now I get to start again in August instead of waiting all the way until February!!!

We had our end of the season par-TAY down at the camp we're all going to in July. That place is huge and awesome!! We played two games of softball and the second one was the parents and coaches against the kids. We WON!!! But my mom rocked because she got two double plays and then she got me out at first TWICE!! But we still won!! hahahaha!! So now I don't have anything to do except practice. And I can't wait to see everyone again at camp. It's going to be fun fun fun!!!

It's not even really summer here yet because its not hot and its raining still a lot. My big thing I'm looking forward to now is July 4th. My best friend from baseball is going to a Mariners game with me. A REAL MARINERS GAME!!! I've never been to one and neither has he so its going to be so cool!! Anyway not much else is going on. I'm already bored and school just ended so I have to make some stuff up to do. I need ideas. And it can't be water or outside cause its not hot enough yet.

Sick

I havent been to my blog in a long time because I've been sick. I finally felt like getting up and doing something today but not too much. My sisters really sick too. I havent played baseball in a long time but hopefully I can do a little bit this week. I have a game on wenesday so I HOPE I get to play it. Or at least be there. Its not fun staying home when I know my team is playing. My big big big game is on Saturday. I don't really want to go cause I'm woried the umpire will be there again, but everybody says I have to. So I'm still really tired and thats all I can think of to write. I hope everybody has a fun and sunny Memorial weekend. We had lots of thunder and lightning here last night. It was awesome!!

My best night yet

So Tuesday was my best game night so far this season!!! Or EVER!!! My first at bat I got walked and made it to third. I tried to jump the tag but I landed funny on the base and fell and third base got me out. But that's okay cause I was laughing and they were laughing at me too. My second at bat, I got two strikes and I thought it was over. I wanted a piece of that ball bad!!! So I watched it, swung hard and pulled just like the coach said and I hit it all the way into deep left center!! The coach said it was about 5 to 6 feet off of a homerun!!! I made it all the way to first with lots of time to celebrate. Then the next two hitters took me to second, then third, then all the way home!!! I scored a run!! It felt awesome!!

I have to go eat dinner but I'll be back and tell everyone about my new thing I'm going to do!

I love baseball season!

Last Saturday started a good streak for me!! My friend William hit before me and got a single then he stole second off of Michael when he struck out. Then I was up to bat. I had two balls and one strike. Then I HIT THE BALL!!! It didn't go way out it was kind of more like a dribbler. It went over to third base and I RAN FAST!! As fast as I could to first, then the third baseman over threw the ball and first base missed it. So my coach was yelling at me to RUN!!! So I ran to second and made it there. And William came home. So I got a rbi DOUBLE baby!!

Then Wednesday night I was up for the second time. I had two strikes and one ball. Then I hit the ball HARD!! It went flying, then the shortstop (my friend Sam even though he's on the other team) picked it up and threw it to first. It made it before I did so I was out. But I still hit the ball! I also got walked once, but then David got put in to pinch for me.

Then this Saturday I got walked. Then to second. Then to third. Then I scored a run for the first time this season!! It felt really good going over home. It's been really fun and my team is awesome.

Here's some pictures from my not fun time but I wanted to show everybody what it was like on the night when all the news people were there. It was kind of scary with all the cameras all focused on me the whole game. It made me nervous.

The coach put me in the outfield because I was so nervous I couldn't focus on the ball and I hadn't played second for a while.

All of the cameras on the home side of the field and there were a bunch more on the other side and behind home plate. Every time I came in the dugout they followed me over!

This is my first interview after the game. No pressure here! They made them set up all the cameras in groups so I didn't have to do them all at different times. I was really really nervus but my whole team came up and stood by me so it was really cool. And my best friend Alex was there the whole night too. And his mom Mrs. Parker took most of the pictures for my mom and stayed with her the whole game. Some of those reporters were NOT cool or nice to them. But the channel 8 reporters were really really cool and funny! I guess I liked them the best.

This is what all of the trucks had on them because they said they did it live at 5 and 6 and also at 10 and 11. We didn't get to see the first two but we saw the 10 and 11 oclock ones.

And so thanks to everybody who helped me play again because I don't know what I would do if I couldn't.

This whole thing has really changed my life but I don't want people to feel sorry for me. Here is my teaser for tomorow: I'm going to start my own organization but I'll tell you all about it then!!

I cant wait until tonight!!! It's going to be a long long long long day before I can go to the field. But I am in the Columbian today. Here is my link to my story

It's okay I guess and I'm still mad at the umpire because of everything. I don't agree with what everybody says about him making the right call. And the way he said it. But I get to play so I guess it's okay.

I won!!!

I get to play!!! The national people said today that I can be with my team again and that I get to play the rest of the season! I'm so excited and I can't wait til tomorow now!! When Dave called my mom and told her I started screaming. I couldn't believe it. Its been real weird at my house. The phone rings all the time and tv shows want to talk to me. The newspaper here called and asked me to come down for an intervew with my mom and so they could take my picture. I put on my team uniform so I could show everyone who I played for. The reporter was super nice and so was the phtographer. They also did a videotape of me and my mom. Everywhere I went today people recognized me and I felt like a celebrity. It was kind of cool but kind of weird and it got old after a lot of it. They were shaking my hands and telling me good luck and I did good and everything. And tomorow the news people who did the first story are coming back to my game (my FIRST GAME BACK!!!) and taping me again so they can let everybody know our good good news. I can't wait to play. I don't have to be in the dugout or the scorebox now. Thank you to everybody who helped make the right decison and to all the people who don't even know me but called to make sure it worked out. It did and now I'm going to celebrate!!!

I'm on the news!

I got to tell my story about being kicked out of baseball to the news last night. I was very nervous but the reporter that talked to me made it really easy not stressful. I was in the skybox keeping score cause I'm still not allowed on the field yet. I hope they hurry up and make the decison because I really really really want to just play. and practice!!

My sad sad Saturday

This has been one heck of a weekend. I had a doubleheader on Saturday. I got there early and I was kind of lost because we were at an away field and I didn't know where majors were playing. So some lady asked me if I was a Mariner for Fort (FVLL) and I said yeah and she told me I needed to go to the dugout on the away side and showed me where. Then Coach Drew told me to warmup and he asked me if I finally found my hat yet. I said no and he got mad and mumbled okay I'll get you a new one. So me and my friend Corey went and warmed up. Then the game started. We were up to bat first but only the top 3 hitters got to hit. Then I took the field, in left field, and played the inning. Next we were up again to bat and then it was my friend David on second then William on first. I left the dugout and went into the box. The ump called a timeout and asked me what was on my back. I said it was my oxygen tank and he said Wait a minute! He talked to Coach Drew and said he cant play with that on his back. Coach Drew asked why and the ump could not tell him so he asked for a rule book. My other coach John got me and told me to step out of the box and take a couple of practice swings to keep warm. Then I heard Coach Drew getting mad, so I went way over to my dugout with coach John. I was a little scared. I heard the ump give him a warning and I asked my coach to pull me so he would not be ejected. He shook his head and told the ump he was treating it like a dang playoff game and it wasnt like I was going to explode or anything. Then the ump ejected Coach Drew and then he ejected me. From both games. I was soooooooooooooo MAD!!!!! Then he called a delay of game and everybody started talking outside the field. The teams were told to go into our dugouts and stay until it was resolved. Then my teammates came up to me and were telling me way to take one for the team and yaddda yadddda. When they came back nothing was changed and I still wasn't allowed to play. Coach John told me to come here that we had to talk. He said that I wasn't going to be allowed to play anymore games for today and I wasn't going to be allowed to step on the field. I felt like crying. Anyway now everythings messed up and screwed up. They won't let me play anymore or practice anymore. They said that all of this was taken up to the regional and national level and now we have to wait for them to decide there if I can play or not. I hope they decide really quick cause I want to play baseball!! So that was my sad sad Saturday.

My Fun Sunday

I had so much fun yesterday!! I won a contest for the Portland Beavers baseball team. I had to guess who were the two catchers and I sent in my guess and I was the first one to guess correct. So I won!! I got to be the junior announcer at the game yesterday. It was against the Salt Lake Bees. I got there early and the lady who told me I won was there and met me. She took me and my dad and my mom all around the stadium. I met three Beavers players and talked to them and also got their autographs. Then we went up to the media booth. Its right in the middle of the stadium and you could see everything from there!!!! So I met the guy who was in charge of announcing. He told me when I was going to start the game and how to do it. So after we sang the Star Spangled banner he said some stuff and then said my name and gave me the microphone. Then I said really loud "lets play ball!!!" There was a video guy like a foot in front of my face and it was really weird cause the red light was on and I knew everyone could see me. And they put me on the Jumbotron too!! Then we went and watched the game. The Bees had a homerun with the very first player but the ball went behind the scoreboard so nobody caught it. We lost 5-0. It was sad but it was a fun game and I got to yell a lot and be a heckler lol

At the end of the game we went out the back gate which we never ever do. I wanted to see what the scoreboard looked like from behind because its a really old one from 1903 and its not digital. Everything they do is put up by hand. They have a pully system to put the numbers in on the top. It's really cool. So we were checking it out and watching them take the numbers down and this guy saw me and said "hey kid!". I looked up and he grabbed the homerun ball and THREW IT TO ME! I couldn't believe I got the homerun ball. Who cares if its from the other team. I'm happy.

So me and my mom made a video of it. Its really short but I picked the music and its kind of cool. So here it is.

Second game

My second game was on Saturday and it was so opposite from my first game. It was hot hot hot hot HOT!!!! It was too hot to play. I played second again. We were home again and we didn't let the other team get any runs for the first two innings. We got 5 runs though!! But then they started getting ahead of us and we didn't do so good anymore. I didn't get to base at all that game. I need to work on my hitting. We don't have practice tonight because its raining all day. So my next baseball time is actually my next game. It's on Thursday so I have some time to work on stuff by myself.

My first GAME!!

Okay so it was kind of up and kind of down. I was so nervus and I wasn't even sure if I wanted to play anymore. We warmed up but it was super cold because it was almost night time and it was sometimes raining on and off. I told the coach my ankle was really hurting so when he called off positions he gave me second base. I don't have to run and turn as fast there like I would have to at short. We were home so we were on the field first. The first batter to come up swung and hit the ball hard right to ME!! I scooped it right up and threw it as fast as I could to first base...OUT!!! I got the runner OUT!!! Haha! I was so excited!! I heard my mom and dad and sister all screaming my name and everybody cheering. It was GREAT!! Then the next batter got struck out. The third hitter came up and did the same thing the first one did. He hit it right at me!! So I scooped it up again and threw it to first. But I couldn't get my hand on the ball just right, so it took me a few seconds longer. The first basemen caught it JUST IN TIME!!!!! Wow!! I heard everybody cheering again. It was so awesome!!

Then it was time to go up to bat. I was in the middle of the lineup but I got walked. So I went to first. Then I STOLE SECOND!!!! It felt awesome cause I always see the other kids do it and didn't know I could do it too. Then our power hitter came up and cracked the ball all the way into the outfield. I started running and wanted to stop at third but then my coach was yelling at me to go all the way home. My ankle hurt so bad and I know I couldn't run any faster but I tried so hard. I didn't even think about sliding so I just crossed the plate but the catcher caught the ball right before my foot touched. I was so mad!! I could have had the very first run of the game!! I only went up to bat two more times and I struck out. But in the 5h inning I had an awesome play!! The batter hit the ball to short. He ran for first and short threw the ball to me. I ran for second base, tagged it and got the first base runner out there and then I threw it FAST to first base and GOT HIM OUT!!! I made a double play!!! I love baseball!!

First game tonight!!

Ok so I'm really really super nervus about my game tonight. I want to do good and play my very best so I hope I can. I'm woried that I wont hit the ball that I'm going to strike out in front of everybody. And my ankle hurts a LOT right now so my mom has been masaging it this morning. I think its because I have been running on it more so its really painful. It will be okay. I know it will. I'm just super nervus!!!! I will write about how I did tomorow!!

BIG BASEBALL NEWS!!!!!!!!

I have HUGE news tonight, but first... (lol)

Practice tonight was my first REAL one since I hurt my ankle. It felt good but I forgot my brace at first so my dad had to drive home and get it for me. So I couldn't run until he got back. Once I got it on me it felt much better and it wasn't wiggling so I could run and play my position.

I played first, second, third, and short tonight. I did great at first and got two outs on different fast balls. One was a double play so it felt good to finish it up!!

Then I played second and did okay there. It was boring because the kid up to bat cant hit very well so I never got to chase anything except for when the coach threw us balls in between the pitches to keep us warm.

Third was okay too but still not a lot of action. I didn't get too much time at short because it was close to the end of practice.

Okay, now for my BIG BASEBALL NEWS.....

After practice, coach called us in to a huddle. He said season starts next week and he decided the starting rotation and positions. I was last in line and he went in order from the beginning telling everybody what position they were, if they were starting. I was really worried he wasn't going to call my name because it took forever. FINALLY he said "Jacob you're starting shortstop"

I couldn't belive my ears!!!!! I was thinking holy COW I did not just make the starting lineup and he didnt REALLY say I was shortstop did he????!!!!! YES HE DID!!!!! YAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! I am so super excited I cant hardly wait until our first game!!!! Which I still don't know when that is because we didn't get our schedule yet. We're suposed to get our uniforms this week and thats going to be cool too. I just want to scream and yell to everybody that I DID IT!!!!! I made my goal and I worked so so so so so so hard to make it and I DID IT!!!! I cant sleep now I'm too excited about it. Anyway it feels good and I know I did it for myself and nobody helped me get it.

The batting cages

Yesterday I went to the batting cages for the very first time ever. It was cool because there were slow pitch and fast pitch machines. Let's just say I did better on the slow pitch. Those were 50 mph and they came fast!!!! But I did good on the fast pitch after I got used to them. Starting out wasn't great but I got better. It's scary because you think your going to get hit but once you realize the ball keeps on coming the same way and it's not going to hit you it's not that scary. Here's a picture of me when the ball was almost to my bat. I hit it! It was in the fast pitch cage and I was working hard to hit those!!


I can't wait to go back again it was so much fun!! I have to go to regular practice on Monday but I don't think it will be the same. It will also be my first practice since I hurt my ankle but my brace makes it feel a lot better when I walk so I think running will be okay. I am on spring break this week and then our season starts next week!!! FINALLY!!!!!

And MLB opens tomorow!!!! Jeremy is playing the DBacks and our cable place is giving us free sports channels all week so I hope I get to see all of his games.

My First Double

I got a double at practice on Monday!!! My coach kept telling me to hold the bat the right way and then he came over and showed me. So I tried it his way and what do you know I smacked that ball across the field!!!!!!!! I started running and looked at the coach and he was yelling at me to KEEP RUNNING so I went past first and then I saw the ball coming down at me at second but I got in just in time and I was SAFE!!!! My next time up I only got a single but I did go 4 for 4. I was up times and hit every time :) It felt really really good. When I wasn't batting I played shortstop and second base. It was awesome man!!!

But now I'm out for a little time. I hurt my ankle on Monday at practice. I was running the bases at the end of practice and when I was rounding third I rolled it and fell. It hurt but my coach was chasing me to make me run faster so I got up and kept going haha. The doctor says I'm off of it for 2 LONG weeks but I'm bugging my mom to let it be only one week. And we go to the batting cages this weekend and I can for sure do that. My mom promised me that since I can't do practice that I can go to some of Marissa's school games and see her friend play. He's on varsity this year and he's really really good so I can't wait to go see him play. And they have a great team this year!!!
